The Mytic North - Pt. IV by TheChosenPesssimist The Mytic North - Pt. IV by TheChosenPesssimist
A few weeks ago I postes a picture of this awesome place from a different perspective. But I thought I have to share this with you guys too, so you get more detailed impressions from that place (by the way, the Kirkjufell lies in the west of Iceland)

Hope you like it!

You're just making me look forward even more to my trip to Iceland in August. :) Got any tips?

Ohhh where should I start let's see:

- take GOOD shoes with you, it can be really slippery there
- rent a car so you can go where you want to go
- take warm clothes with you!
- take something to clear the lense with you
- you will need a camera bag
- different lenses like ~12mm, 50mm and 100+mm
- ND-Filter!!
- take a map with you

I guess those are the most important points you need to take care of ;)

Ive got strong NDs too (ND400 and ND1000), but Im not using them very often. Theyre quite unpractical for me since you always have to use a tripod.
But sometimes its really worth using one of those...

I don't use them that much either, just for some nice waterfall pictures. It just looks more awesome :D

Very true. But for waterfalls a ND64 or even weaker should be enough even in most daylight situations. You dont need to expose much longer than half a second, thats my experience.
The best part are the moving clouds, the sense of motion is really spectacular and enhances the impact quite a lot :)

That's true i guess. The first ND Filter I bought 3 Years ago was to weak for me, so I bought an extreme strong one after that. Next time I'm going to look for a middle-thing

Ive got enough right now, I think - 2xND8, ND64, ND400 and ND1000. Im not so sure about the variable ND filters where you can choose the strength by rotating. They have to have some issues concerning the price savings you get from one of those...

I highly recomend to do so, but you have to take a ton of money with you - Iceland is freaking expensive :O (I paid like 14 Euros for a whisky sour)

Awesome shot!

Very good use of the slow shutter speed and long exposure. I see some strong vignette though... I'm guessing it's the filter.
